Application

MAVAG filters are part of a proven product programme.

They are used in many separation processes as:

  • clarifying filtration or cake filtration in direct, precoat or polishing operation
  • for solid liquid separation processes in enclosed systems
  • for optimised solutions in special application on a proven, economical basis
Single-sheet Filters and Pressure Nutsches

These static filters are used after precipitation or crystallisation processes for the separation of solids from suspensions with relatively high solids content 
  • with manual cake discharge from the open filters either with lowered bottom or lifted top
  • with solid discharge over a rising pipe in suspended form or dissolved after reslurrying with a top mounted agitator
  • as polishing filters (depth filters)

Typical filter parameters are:

  • filter area 0,06 – 3,2 m²
  • vessel volume 2,0 – 5000 liters
  • cake height 50 – 300 mm
MAVAZWAG® Agitated Pressure Nutsches and Filter-Dryers 

Agitated Pressure Filters
Pressure nutsches with centrally mounted and height adjustable agitator:
  • to distribute, smooth, reslurry, suspend and discharge of the filter cake
  • for the separation of suspensions with relatively high solid content
  • for the solid separation with intensive cake washing

Typical filter parameters are:

  • filter area 0,17 – 15 m²
  • vessel volume 100 – 15’000 liters
  • cake height 50 – 500 mm

Filter-Dryer
The filter-dryer combines two process steps of filtration and cake drying without product transfer to an other equipment. The agitated pressure filter with heated bottom and heated top as well as heated agitator. Optionally equipped with dust filter, vacuum pump and solvent recovery system.

Separation of suspension with high solid content. Processing of sensitive products. Gently thermal end drying of the filter cake to very low residual moisture contents. 

Typical filter parameters are:

  • filter area 0,25 – 10,0 m²
  • vessel volume 150 – 10’000 liters
  • cake height 50 – 500 mm
MAVADISC® Horizontal Disc Filter with centrifugal cake discharge

Enclosed pressure filter with horizontal filter plates mounted on a vertical shaft.
MAVADISC® filters are process filters optimised and designed to meet your specific application requirements.

Typical characteristics of the MAVADISC® filter are:

  • filtration in automated and enclosed systems
  • precoat filters with wet cake discharge
  • residue filters with dry cake discharge
  • absolute filtration with MAVASCREEN® filter plates, with exactly defined and easy to clean perforation
  • totally enclosed system for environmental safe and hazard-free operation
  • uniform cake formation
  • top driven shaft with external bearing
  • minimised product losses due to heel filtration at the end of the cycle
  • cake washing by cascade method
  • cake drying with closed inert gas circuit

  • filter area: 0,15 – 45 m² (larger sizes upon request)
  • filter plate diameter: 0,3 – 1,2 m
  • cake volume: 30 – 2'800 liters
MAVAPLATE® Multiple-sheet Filter

Horizontal multiple-sheet filter with compact filter insert designed to accept commercially available filter sheets.

Static modular filter in an enclosed system. The straight forward filter design without mechanical devices assures high reliability in operation.


The filter insert is lifted from the filter as a complete unit. The cake will be removed sheet wise in an appropriate location.

Typical filter parameters are:

  • separation of suspension with low solid content
  • in time filtration for continous processes
  • polishing filter in sequence to other filters
  • filter area 2,0 – 8,0 m²
  • cake volume 11 – 105 liters
  • mesh size 0,5 – 200 µm
  • filtration performance 4,0 – 16 m³/h

Feasibility Study

Suitable filters are selected and made available for testing of product or process applications at the customer’s site. Some of the filters are also available on a rental basis.
